Did you know that it is possible to sculpt muscle without extending your workout time or changing your diet? If you often struggle to achieve the amount of toning you desire, regardless of a healthy diet and exercise, you are not alone. This can be due to aging, genetics, activity level or food choices. Now, you can tone muscle and lose fat through simple, non-invasive, FDA-approved treatments at the Dermatology Center for Skin Health, PLLC. Read on to learn more.

Body contouring is a non-surgical procedure to either remove fat from the body or tone muscle.

The Dermatology Center for Skin Health, PLLC offers CoolSculpting® for stubborn fat and Emsculpt® for muscle toning. Both procedures are only recommended for people who regularly exercise and have a consistently healthy diet and should not be considered an alternative to a healthy lifestyle.

Emsculpt® is an FDA approved, non- invasive procedure that uses electromagnetic pulses to force your muscles to contract 20,000 times in just 20-30 minutes. The result is stronger, tighter muscles and a breakdown of fat cells. For optimal results, a series of four treatments are performed within a two-week period. Best results are seen three months after treatment, while others continue to see results after six months of treatment. One Emsculpt® treatment to the abdomen is equivalent to 20,000 crunches. Studies have shown an increase in 19 percent of muscle and 23 percent of fat reduction after four treatments to the abdomen. The procedure is also used to sculpt and tone the buttocks, calves, thighs, biceps and triceps. The procedure builds muscle that would usually take months to gain with regular exercise.

However, Emsculpt® should not be a substitute for exercise, as it only fires the targeted muscle. Emsculpt® is a great body contouring method and an excellent device to strengthen the weak muscle you desire to strengthen.

CoolSculpting® is a non-surgical, non-invasive highly effective fat reduction process that uses controlled cooling temperature to eliminate fat cells under the skin. The procedure only takes about 30 to 60 minutes based on the area that is being treated. Coolsculpting® shrinks and eliminates fat from various regions of the body including flanks, abdomen, arms, thighs and buttocks. Like Emsculpt®, CoolSculpting® should not be considered a substitute for regular diet and exercise and will not treat obesity. After a CoolSculpting® treatment, patients can expect up to 20 percent to 25 percent reduction of fat in the treated area.

In our practice, we encourage combination therapy to aid in the reduction of fat while building muscle. We tailor it to your body’s shape for the best possible results.

We use CoolSculpting® to reduce the bulk stubborn fat and combine it with Emsculpt® for the excess fat and weak muscles, which must both be corrected to improve body shape and definition.

Consequently, patients that had unsatisfactory results with fat-fighting treatments like CoolSculpting® can finally achieve their body goals with Emsculpt®.

Currently, Emsculpt® patients experience little to no downtime after a procedure. A patient might experience minor swelling, bruising or pain after the treatment, but it is unlikely. Similarly, CoolSculpting® might result in minor side effects like temporary redness, swelling, bruising, tingling, tenderness or sensitivity. In rare cases, CoolSculpting® side effects can cause visible enlargement of the treated area two to five months after treatment. These symptoms are rare but do require additional medical treatment to correct.

You can schedule a consultation appointment for Emsculpt® or CoolSculpting® at the Dermatology Center for Skin Health, PLLC today. Our Clinical Cosmetic Specialist will discuss whether or not these procedures are correct for you and which route you should go for best results. After forming a treatment plan, you’ll be on your way to building muscle and reducing fat in a quick, noninvasive way that won’t require any downtime.

Body contouring procedures are not a substitute for a healthy lifestyle, but they are great body enhancement options for people who desire more muscle tone and less tricky fat.
