What the differences are between Emsculpt® and CoolSculpting
Emsculpt® is the first and only FDA-cleared energy device that is authorized to build muscle and sculpt the body for men and women. It is a 20 to 30-minute non-invasive procedure that tones the abdomen and buttocks. A package of 4 treatments for the same body location is recommended for best results.
Through thirteen different studies, it was found that patients who received four Emsculpt® treatments saw a:
Emsculpt® is not a weight loss solution. Emsculpt® is for individuals who regularly workout and maintain a healthy diet. It helps to increase core muscle tone for men and women.
This procedure is a right fit for individuals who work out regularly, but can’t seem to obtain the amount of toning they want or if you want to increase core muscle tone.
Unfortunately, Emsculpt® is not for everyone. Anyone who has metal or electronics, like pacemakers or defibrillators, Copper IUD - Paragard, etc placed within their body or who has a history of muscle issues should not receive the Emsculpt® procedure. Pregnancy, breastfeeding and a latex allergy are also a contraindication for Emsculpt®.
Emsculpt® uses high-intensity focused electromagnetic (HIFEM) technology to promote muscle contractions that are not achievable through voluntary contractions through working out. As the muscle is exposed to these intense contractions, the muscle is forced to adapt to such extreme conditions, resulting in burned fat and toned muscle.
Muscle mass and fat loss are not permanent. If you don’t work out regularly, your muscle mass won’t be maintained. With Emsculpt®, you may see the results last for one year; however, it is recommended that patients receive maintenance treatments. Typically, it is recommended that patients receive four initial Emsculpt®
We had the opportunity to perform a live demonstration of our new product, Emsculpt®, on Facebook Live. As the first provider in the state of West Virginia, Emsculpt® offers technology to build muscle and sculpt your body to help you meet your fitness goals.
When our new machine is used on the abdomen, it is equivalent to 20,000 crunches. At the Dermatology Center for Skin Health, PLLC, we are offering Emsculpt® for the abdomen and buttocks.
During your first consultation, you’ll meet with your Emsculpt® provider. Your provider will talk with you about specific toning goals, as well as perform a full-body assessment. This assessment will allow the provider to examine your body and the treatment area and discuss realistic goals of your treatment.
Emsculpt® is a tolerable treatment that does not require any post-treatment downtime and no side effects are proven to be shown. It is highly recommended to stay hydrated. There aren't any additional pretreatment requirements involved for those using Emsculpt®.
During treatment:
After the patient completes their consent and questionnaire, their Emsculpt® provider will weigh, measure and take pictures of the patient. The provider will ask the patient to remove all metallic accessories, as well as clothing around the treatment area. Next, the provider will start the procedure:
The machine will deliver three phases during the 20 to 30-minute treatment. It alternates between the build up, the very strong muscle contraction phase and a recovery phase to reduce lactic acid build-up. After the procedure is finished, the applicators are removed and the patient is finished. As mentioned, there is no downtime with the Emsculpt® procedure. Patients may resume daily activities, including working out, right after the procedure.
Ensculpt should never replace traditional exercise as natural exercise has many other benefits. Emsculpt® can compliment your current exercise routine and healthy eating habits to help you reach your personal goals.
You may be thinking to yourself, “Emsculpt® seems similar to CoolSculpting.” While, yes, both procedures are meant to help individuals achieve realistic body goals, here are a few differences, such as:
CoolSculpting is the only FDA-approved, non-invasive fat-freezing procedure. This 30 to 60-minute procedure uses controlled cooling to eliminate fat bulges in the:
Adults keep the same number of fat cells throughout their entire lives. When an individual exercises, these fat cells shrink, whereas CoolSculpting eliminates them completely and permanently.
Side effects can include swelling, bruising and pain.
Emsculpt® is the only FDA-cleared, non-invasive, muscle building and body sculpting.
Emsculpt® does not have any current side effects.
While there are a couple of differences between these two procedures, it may be recommended that patients use both treatments in tandem, depending on their body goals.
